Top enterprise managers'decision-making ability is the overall performance of the knowledge, skills, ways of thinking, information awareness and analytical skills in decision-making. As helmsman of enterprises, the level of top enterprise managers'decision-making ability directly affect the success of the enterprise. Therefore, the research on top enterprise managers'decision-making ability can help companies capture market opportunities, access to long-term sustainable development.Scholars at home and abroad explore more in decision-making process, and less in the decision-making ability that is a long-term stable individual characteristics. Most of the studies on decision-making ability is qualitative analysis based on western decision-making theory. And the quantitative research is relatively small, because of the lack of decision-making ability of the measurement tools. Most of the studies on decision-making is based on individual decision-making process of descriptive research, little is based on the decision-making ability development of applied research. Therefore, this study combines decision theory and management practices at home and abroad through the method of a questionnaire survey, open interviews, training experiments, to research the status of decision-making ability, decision-making style and decision-making ability relations, decision-making ability development of Chinese top enterprise managers. Specifically, first of all, the researchers prepared to design the top management decision-making ability measurement questionnaire as a measure tool of manager's decision-making ability. And then, enterprise managers in China are conducted a survey for collecting information. Finally, a decision-making ability development training experiment is designed to test the strength and effectiveness of the training program on decision making ability and its factors. The following conclusions:①Top enterprise managers decision-making ability structure contains problem finding ability, independent thinking ability, program choice ability and the information integration ability of four factors. Decision-making ability measurement questionnaire has good reliability, validity, and the degree of difficulty and discrimination. It can be used for testing top enterprise manager's decision-making ability.②Generally, the level of top enterprise managers'decision-making ability is not good. In contrast, independent thinking is the highest score, lowest score is information integration. ③On the information integration ability, there are significant differences in gender and the type of business, women is stronger than men, managers of foreign-funded enterprises were significantly stronger than the state-owned enterprises and private enterprises managers. On independent thinking ability, there are significant differences between positions. Vice president is stronger than general manager.④On the decision-making styles, there are some significant differences. Men's analysis-oriented decision-making style is stronger than women; managers those more than 35 years old in the specification-oriented decision-making style are significantly stronger than managers those less than 35 years old.⑤Intuition-oriented style has the significant positive correlation with independent thinking and information integration. Analysis-oriented has the significant positive correlation with independent thinking. Specification-oriented has the significant positive correlation with the program-selecting. In addition, the fact-oriented decision-making style hasn't the significant positive correlation with the various factors of decision-making ability.⑥Following the general regression analysis, it is found that decision-making style and decision-making ability are the explanatory power of the general. The fact- oriented style and problem found ability have the significant positive regression. The intuition- oriented style and information integration ability have the significant positive regression. The analysis-oriented style and program selection ability have the significant positive regression. The specification-oriented style and independent thinking ability have the significant positive regression.⑦Through training and development, the overall level of decision-making ability, and the problems found ability, independent thinking ability, information integration ability can be significantly improved.
