The competition between supplier chains is more and more obvious in the 21st century. During the fierce competition, telecom manufactures realize the importance to enhance supplier management and gain the advantage from the alliance with suppliers. To enhance the supplier relationship management, telecom manufactures should not only select the reliable partners, but also stimulate these suppliers to improve their performance.This paper firstly analyzed the characteristics of telecom manufacture industry and then summarized their requirements for the suppliers. According to these requirements, an evaluation system of suppliers together with the supplier classification model was built up. Based on this evaluation and classification model, this paper involved the benchmarking management and built up a supplier relationship management model.In the model of supplier evaluation and classification, this paper insisted that we should first evaluate the importance of the materials and make different supplier classification and selection strategy according to it. We should also evaluate the suppliers from two dimensions:competition factors and development factors. In the model of supplier relationship management, this paper insisted that enterprises should set different benchmarks for different level of suppliers and guide them to improve their performance gradually. And this supplier relationship model can also be associated with the daily sourcing procedures for telecom manufactures. Generally speaking, this paper made innovation in the following aspects:(1) Built up an evaluation system for materials and suppliers according to the characteristics of telecom manufactures.(2) Established a quantitative classification model for suppliers based on the gap analysis with two dimensions in their competition and development capability.(3) Constructed a supplier relationship management model to advance the improvement of supplier performance with benchmarking methodology based on the previous created supplier evaluation and classification model in this paper.
