The development of urban rail transit has led to transport webs of large scales. Remarkable differences among equipments for various operating lines will come into being. The wide range of transport webs and the maintenance of different equipments will also give birth to coexisting maintenance models with multiple bases, and the management of operation and organization will encounter more difficulties. All these pose formidable manpower and economic burdens on existing maintenance models.Consequently, based on the development strategies and market survey results, enterprises should outsource maintenance tasks to professional corporations so as to reduce costs, improve efficiency, enhance the quality of equipment maintenance and finally strengthen the core-competiveness of enterprises.This dissertation introduced situation concerning the management framework and equipment maintenance of Guangzhou Metro, and elaborated existing problems. These problems include: lack of analysis and classification of equipment characteristics as well as inefficiency of the maintenance center and management models for the management of outsourcing projects at conceptual stage; failure of establishing capable project team as well as the chaos of project organization and the absence of venture evaluation at exploitation stage; lack of comprehensive quality monitoring system and effective reward-and-punishment system at implement stage; and finally the absence of an integral post project appraisal. Theories of project management, of project organization and of project venture management were used to analyze current problems occurring in the management of equipment maintenance outsourcing.Last but not least, based on the analysis above, resolutions to existing problems were suggested to be: refinement on the decision and organization of assorted equipment outsourcing process at conceptual stage; keys to establishing project team and to performing comprehensive venture evaluation at exploitation stage; the establishment of quality monitoring system and reward-and-punishment system at implement stage; and the inclusion of post project appraisal.To sum, this dissertation referred to relevant theories of project management and analyzed current problems existing in outsourcing projects of Maintenance Center of Guangzhou Metro. Solutions were raised and the whole process of outsourcing projects was designed to improve the capability and efficiency of Maintenance Center of Guangzhou Metro on outsourcing management of equipment maintenance.
