In the recent years, as the competition of commercial banks had been gradually intensified, the government began to foster and give more supporting to the national and local commercial banks. Since the commitment of all-round opening of banking industry has been meet in 2006 as a compulsory clause to be a member of the WTO, the competition circumstance of commercial banks developed into a keen one. Instead of a sellers'market, the commercial banks are meeting a buyers'market, hence the demands of customer turned to be the most significant motivation, the commercial banks may inevitable changed into customers-oriented ones.Several theoretical and practical researches had been taken to analyze the structure of commercial banks'working procedures, trying to find a suitable mode for the business operation redesigning of those banks. Most of those researches obeyed the external- internal order when analyze the procedures of commercial banks, deconstruction and reorganize the procedures into several connected units, to figure an appropriate way which in accordance with both the tactical target and the strategic target of the banks base on the analysis. And the ultimate goal of those researches is to intensify the capability and improve the competitiveness of the commercial banks. Thus, to work with the competitiveness of the commercial banks appears to be an essential topic at well.In this dissertation, the writer analyze external and internal environment of the commercial banks, in the view based on its general meaning value-chain, deconstructed and reconstructed the procedure of the operation units. We use a comprehensive analysis method which including economics, banking, management, and econometrics, proposed a quantificational model to judge the competitiveness of commercial banks. and based on the quantities result, the article put forward several suggestion to the commercial banks in the improvement of their competitiveness. This dissertation includes six parts:Chapter 1:General introduction of the topic of the dissertation. This part introduced the researching background, significance and then illustrated the innovation and contribution of the article, and the limitation as well.Chapter 2:A Review of the Value Chain Theory. The article introduced the classical theory and the development of the Value Chain Theory. Including the original Value Chain of Michael Porter, Kogut, John Shank and V.Gowindarajan, the Value System theory of Peter Hines, the Virtual Value Chain theory of Jefferey F. Rayport and John J. Sviokla, and the Value Net theory of Adrian Slywotzky, David Bovet, Gulati. And review the domestic researches after it.Chapter 3:In this part, a summary of the Competitiveness is given, which concluded the theories in various visual angles into four dimensions of resourced based, intellectual innovation, coordinate capability and organizing system.Chapter 4:This part includes a empirical study on competitiveness of commercial bank in china, which different from other research, giving a brand new view of consideration using a quantificational method. And base on the conclusion, indicated and analyzed the competitiveness of commercial banks in comprehensive way and by factors explanation as well.Chapter 5:Research conclusion and policy suggestion. According to the fourth part, a general conception of the competitiveness of Chinese commercial bank has been built. Considered of the present conditions of those commercial banks, several suggestions are discussed in this chapter.Main innovation and contribution of this dissertation lies in the first time using a brand-new research pattern to analyze competitiveness of commercial bank. In consideration of economics, management and econometrics analysis, we select a reasonable evaluation model, using credible data to evaluate and analyze the competitiveness of thirteen most important commercial banks in China.
