For academics discuss about corporate social responsibility has been a long-lasting. In the trend of economic globalization, corporate social responsibility has become an important strategy to gain competitive success. The commercial bank as an important part of financial institutions to undertake an irreplaceable role, but in recent years, commercial banks crisis-prone, there have been many serious incidents affecting commercial banks own credibility. While competition among banks are growing, and our commercial Bank’s international status also needs to increase, more and more urgent need for the commercial banks to assume their social responsibility. But to fulfill the responsibility itself need bear the cost, whether to enhance their long-term competitiveness and achieve commercial banks and stakeholder win-win situation has become one of the major problems faced by commercial banks. Therefore Relations between social responsibility and core competitiveness among commercial banks is important.By combing the relevant literature, not difficult to find for the study of corporate social responsibility theorists focused on the correlation between CSR and financial performance. The findings are varied and we did not reach the same argument. Theory for the study of the social responsibility of commercial banks, to discuss literature of the social responsibility and core competitive power is relatively small, selected and using of the index is not mature enough.Our discussing start from the commercial banks facing background, then review relevant literature of the relationship between social responsibility and core competitiveness. According to the stakeholder perspective, we classify social responsibility of commercial banks into government shareholders, customers, employees, community responsibility. Combined with previous literature, we build the index system of commercial banks’ social responsibility and core competencies. By using 20 commercial banks in 2008 to 2013 data as samples, we use principal component analysis to analyze related indicators of commercial banks’ social responsibility and core competitiveness. After the total score obtained, we analyze the relationship between commercial banks’ social responsibility and core competitiveness. After multiple regresses, the result show that commercial bank committed to social responsibility, whether the short-term or long-term are related to core competencies was a significant positive correlation.
