Project staff in construction engineering enterprise is the key carrier of enterprises' capability and technological level, they are also the key force of the project proceed smoothly, the enterprises overcome competitive pressures and achieve sustained, stable and healthy development. Their management level, work attitude and the degree of direct involvement have a direct impact on the survival and development of the enterprises. But due to the characteristics of the industry, the performance appraisal to protect staff is in a long period of extensive assessment. In order to adapt to the open market and the increasing fierce competitive environment, it becomes urgent to further deepen the management of performance appraisal system.This paper researches the whole characteristics of the construction industry at this stage, and studies on the status quo of the performance appraisal in this industry, then deeply analyses the deficiencies of current performance management system. And then introduces and uses the balanced scorecard method and the key performance indicators to design the performance appraisal system about the enterprise. At the same time, this design also makes a plan to the issues in the implementation process and the application of results of evaluation.Through the design and the initial import in the project, we believe that the smooth progress of performance appraisal system must be based on people-oriented management, pay attention to the prevention, protection and improvement effect of communication works, and orchestrate the reasonable application of the appraisal results. Only seriously to do these three areas that performance appraisal system could be made good results. We also hope that this paper can provide some guidance and reference to similar company to improve their performance appraisal system.
