With the 3G era, the integration of mobile communications and Internet technology rapidly promotes the growth of the mobile terminal application market, and thus promotes the development of mobile payment industry. China has a large market with 700 million mobile phone users, while the mobile payment industry of China is still in the infancy stage. Although mobile payment is convenient, globalized, unrestricted of equipments and payment items, because of which mobile payment concept has attracted many people's attention, there are still many challenges for the spread of mobile payment market.After years of development, the basic environment of China has been formed to launch mobile payment industry. The market potential of mobile payment is vast, however, the current development situation of mobile payment is not as good as expected, with a great contrast between the reality and anticipation. In order to facilitate the expansion of mobile payment industry, the direction and the key factors impacting the development of mobile payment need to be comprehended and then admissible strategies can be discovered.Firstly, this article introduced the definition, classification, workflow, and composition of the mobile payment industry chain. Secondly, this article made particular research on the mobile payment industry of overseas markets, mainly of the global leading mobile payment markets in Japan and South Korea, from which experience and inspiration were drawn for development of mobile payment industry in China. Thirdly, this article indicated the key factors impacting the development in retrospect of the experience of mobile payment industry in China, and calculated the direction of the domestic mobile payment industry by analyzing the internal characteristics of mobile payment market status. Fourthly, the article analyzed the overall competitive forces of three main businesses of domestic mobile payment market, including independent mobile operators, independent third-party mobile payment service providers, and independent financial institutions. Finally, the article summarized the research briefs and made strategic recommendations for development of domestic mobile payment market. Complementally, the article analyzed a classic case of mobile payment in China by taking Sale8.com as an example.The author expects to reveal the situations, characteristics, and directions of the development through investigation and analysis on mobile payment market; and to provide decision support for development of the main parts on mobile payment value chain by analyzing strategies to China's market conditions; and to afford references for relevant research institutions, investment institutions and experts.
