With the arrival of knowledge economy, economic development is increasingly depending on the raising of science and technology, developing science and technology vigorously has been the development strategy of enhancing international competitiveness in many countries. With the advance of new technology, the competition between countries reflects technological competition, and technological competition is patent competition in a large extent. The six central provinces enjoy the same political and policy tilting, but the degree of market development lags eastern, the growth rate is lower than other provinces, and even appearing"the central collapse". This thesis is based on such background and studies the R&D investment on the contribution of patent and patent on the role of economic development.This thesis reviews the present conditions of domestic and foreign research, bases the innovation theory, transaction cost theory and resource based view, researches the R&D investment on the contribution of patent and patent on the role of economic development, I put to use regression analysis, establish a regression model to verify the correlation, the empirical results show: There is a significant correlation between the quantity of patent applications and R&D fund in Shanxi, Henan, Jiangxi, Hubei and Hunan; There is a significant correlation between the quantity of patent applications and R&D staff in Anhui. There is a significant correlation between the quantity of patent applications and scientific research institutions R&D expenditures in Shanxi, Hunan, Anhui, Jiangxi Province, scientific research institutions R&D expenditure has the larger contribution on patent output; There is a significant correlation between the quantity of patent applications and enterprise R&D expenditures in Henan Province, enterprise R&D has the larger contribution on patent output; and in Hubei province, there is a significant correlation between the quantity of patent applications and the higher college R&D expenditures, higher college R&D expenditures has the larger contribution on patent output. There is a significant correlation between the invention patent and GDP in Shanxi province; There is a significant correlation between the invention patent, design patent and GDP in Henan, Anhui and Hunan province; There is a significant correlation between utility model patent and GDP in Jiangxi and Hubei province.Based on the above founds, this thesis suggests that the six central province should united to integrate resources, given full advantage to coordinate development, enhanced the technological innovation to promote economic development.
