Family enterprise is a worldwide ubiquitous organizational form. For it plays an important role in the economic development of all countries, its shift relief is a focus of attention. The son's succeeding to management position has its profound cultural foundation, and is also a major shift relief pattern in China, which values the family bond greatly. On this basis, the present paper focus on the family enterprises'models of shift relief, not its flaws and defects, because it is the most important and pressing problem faced by Chinese family enterprises.This thesis focus on the family enterprises which successed after the reforms and opening up,however, they are facing dilemma of shift relief.Our aim is to find a appropriate way of shift relief for these enterprises from the paper. Under the guide of related theory of developed and developing countries, we portray the follow viewpoints:first, we define the concept'family enterprises', then we analyse the present situation of family enterprises and some problems they faced. Second, we discuss the experience of succession of other countries, introducing the pattern of western countries and Japan respectively, which will give us some enlighten for China. Third, we come to the main part of this thesis and discover the useful shift relief pattern of family enterprises for our country. Our approach to the problem here is dividing the shift relief process into several phases, then we analyse latent problems in these phases respectively and solve these problems. At last, we get to the referable model of shift relief for our country's family enterprises. At the end of this paper, we analyse factors related with shift relief by questionnaire and econometric method in order for the successful shift relief.
