Uneven development of urban and rural areas is a common problem that countries all over the world face in the course of development. In China, as to an agriculture and large country in population, the significance of coordinating urban-rural development goes without saying. So, how to achieve coordinating urban-rural economic and social development effectively? How realize the integration of urban-rural economic and society? The paper researched rural-urban development gap by typical researching. It analyzed rural-urban development gap from income, consumption, concepts, ecological environment and opportunity in-depth, and put forward number of suggestions to narrow rural-urban development gap and balance urban and rural development with the expectations of having some positive effects on the typical area, Shandong Province and even the nationwide.This Thesis used Development economics, Econometrics, Statistics, Comparative economics, etc, and followed the theory and unified principle of practice, and adopted macroeconomic analysis to combine with microscopic analysis, positive research and standardizing research combining together, qualitative analysis combine with quantitative analysis and comparative analysis and such many kinds of methods statistical analysis, etc, and launched system deep analysis appraise to rural-urban development gap.Chapter 1 clarified the background and significance of this research, overseas and domestic research tends and the content, thread and methods of this paper. Chapter 2 focused on the theory of rural-urban development gap which should be further studied, such as the division of urban and rural areas, the intension of development and development gap, the elements, theoretical foundations and Statistical measurement of rural-urban development gap. Chapter 3 evaluated the status of rural-urban development gap by descriptive Statistics, homogeneity test for variance-test and principal component analysis on the basis of typical investigation. Chapter 4 analyzed the main reasons of rural-urban development gap on the basis of status. Chapter 5 proposed some suggestions to narrow rural-urban development gap and co-ordinate urban-rural development. Chapter 6 contained the main results, the shortage of paper and outlook.The Thesis innovated flowingly mainly:First, the author put forward the whole concept of rural-urban development gap, and analyzed it on all sides. Secondly, the author did one a lot of detailed work on selecting indicators and data processing. So, it enhanced the authenticity and reliability of the analysis. Thirdly, the real-time, comprehensive, accurate information derived from typical investigation. Finally, the designing ideas of questionnaire and surveying methods can supply some reference for others.
