| Geographical Information System (GIS) is a comprehensive subject integrating Computer science, Geography science, Surveying and Mapping, Remote Sensing, and Information science, etc. It is being applied increasingly widely. With the rapid development of Internet, spatial information resources in the Internet are increasing expeditiously. Nevertheless, thousands of Web sites providing images and maps become Information Island for the sake of working solely. Thus, a large amount of information resources are wasted. To utilize these resources sufficiently, distributed computing technology can be applied to make it possible to share and exchange spatial data globally.Along with the advent of the third tide of the Internet, the applications based on GRID technology are becoming a tendency of resource sharing. Within the domain of Spatial Information Science, Spatial Information Grid was proposed to solve the sharing and interoperability of spatial resources on the Internet, and to support the users to obtain, share, access and analyze spatial data. This dissertation focuses on geographic information sharing based on Web Services technology and Grid technology. In this paper, in Chapter 1 and Chapter 2, the geographic information sharing technology and the distributed computing based on Web Services are introduced. In Chapter 3, the Open GIS Specifications that are being implemented by Open GIS Consortium, and Open Geo-data Interoperability Specifications are introduced. In Chapter 4, Open Grid Services Architecture, Open Grid Services Infrastructure and the OGSI.NET platform are introduced. In Chapter 5 and Chapter 6, the key researches on Web-based geospatial service sharing architecture, and Grid-based geospatial service sharing architecture, respectively. In Chapter 5, a method to design a Web-based regional Geographical Information Sharing architecture using XML and... |
