The Road Of Development Of Socialism With Chinese Characteristics From The Perspective Of Ecological Civilization

The18th National People’s Congress (NPC) of the Party held on November,8th,2012put ecological civilization construction at a more prominent position, andelevated it to the height of national strategy. At the Third Plenary Session of the18thCentral Committee of the CPC later, the central government further proposed toaccelerate the construction of ecological civilization system aiming at ecologicalcivilization construction to ensure the successful achievement of ecologicalcivilization. Throughout more than30years of socialist development with Chinesecharacteristics, the appearance of ecological civilization is not an accidentalphenomenon, which not only runs through the whole process of socialist developmentwith Chinese characteristics, but also becomes an inevitable choice for suchdevelopment.The appearance of ecological civilization aims to solve two pressing issues: howto achieve harmonious development between humankind and nature, and how tooptimize the overall social relations of human being to finally achieve commonprosperity, both of which are the issues that socialism with Chinese characteristicsneeds to solve in the development process of more than30years. Therefore, theresearch perspectives of ecological civilization are key to the interpretation ofsocialism with Chinese characteristics, and the strategic choice of ecologicalcivilization is the inevitable course in promoting socialism with Chinesecharacteristics to keep on moving forward.In the development path of socialism with Chinese characteristics, the issues ofecological environment and their solutions, the elements of ecological civilizationcontained in the theory of socialism with Chinese characteristics, and the ecologicalcivilization system included in the institutional system of socialism with Chinesecharacteristics have proved that ecological civilization and socialism with Chinesecharacteristics share consistent logical implications. The theory and practice show thatthe development and perfection of socialism with Chinese characteristics cannot be separated from the construction and realization of ecological civilization, which isembedded in the road, theory and institutional system of socialism with Chinesecharacteristics. The development strategy of “Five in One”, which was firstlyproposed at the18th NPC, lists the construction of ecological civilization into theoverall layout of socialism with Chinese characteristics. This is inevitable in historicaldevelopment. In fact, in the development strategy of “Five in One”, as the simple butimportant pole in the “one”, the construction of ecological system is also equallyimportant and closely related to the other “four”–political construction, economicconstruction,cultural construction and social construction.The great cause of socialism with Chinese characteristics is experiencing thesituation of competitive development with capitalism. However, foreign scholars ofecological Marxism have repeatedly proved that capitalism is naturally anti-ecological,as a result of which the development pattern of capitalism is greatly criticized bypeople in the world. Then people have the reason to expect that the final success ofthe ecological civilization construction of socialism with Chinese characteristics willsurely resolve the predicament of the development pattern of mankind, whilesocialism with Chinese characteristics will certainly manifest incomparablesuperiority as well.
