In the process of children development at the preschool stage, the early childhood is a very important age bracket which is also easy to be ignored by people. Promoting the cognitive development by reasonable means has a very important significance for the life of children. Toys as an important "partners" during the childhood of children, not only bring joy to children, but also play an important role in the physical and mental development of children. How to make toys have better intelligence, interest and security is a problem worthy of our serious consideration. Now the development of the design of educational toys for this stage is still in an initial period. It is unreasonable to speculate the preferences and needs of children only with subjective aesthetic and experience. Therefore, it is necessary to develop a set of rational design methods and procedures based on the cognitive development law of children. This paper tries to introduce the cognitive psychology of children into the design of toys, so as to establish a method which can be widely used for the design of educational toys for preschool children from the perspective of science, fun and security. Based on the observation of the interactive process of children with toys, it analyzes the key points of behaviors, with the combination of theoretical research and field testing, and this paper finds the direction of the design of children’s educational toys, forming the thinking connection theoretically. Meanwhile, this paper combines the cognitive psychology with the design science, trying to design the educational toys which can promote the intellectual development of preschool children, so as to distinguish it from the single analysis of traditional design on children’s toys, providing design and application reference for the design of educational toys of children in the future.
