Magnetorheological fluid, called MRF, is a kind of smart material, the rheological property of MRF can be changed in an external magnetic field, and the change is continuous, reversible and controllable. Under the action of external magnetic field, MRF can instantly(in milliseconds) achieve consecutive reversible transition between the low viscosity, easy flow Newton fluid and high viscosity, hard plastic Bingham fluid. Based on this characteristic MRF loading device is developed, it has the feature of simple structure, small volume, stable loading, low energy consumption and fast response and has a broad prospect in engineering applications.MRF loading device designed in this paper achieves the change of loading torque through changing the shear yield strength of MRF, shear yield strength of MRF can be changed by controlling the external magnetic field. Based on the analysis of domestic and foreign research status of magneto rheological fluid material and its application, combined with the mechanical design method, the disc shear mode MRF loading device is designed. This paper establishes the loading torque equation of disc loading device, elaborates the design process and experimental method, verifies the reversible of magnetic rheological effect. A lot of work has been done in this paper, mainly includes:1.Reviewing the application of MRF in engineering field, elaborating some problems on MRF technology at present simply, introducing the composition of the MRF and the effects of each component, making a research on the classification, rheological effect, rheological characteristic and rheological mechanism of MRF, analyzing the influence factor of rheological effect.2.Analyzing the theory of MRF loading device, describing the characteristics of each working mode and form of MRF loading device in detail, designing the magnetic circuit of the loading actuator, analyzing the disc shear mode MRF loading device, doing research on working principle of disk type loading device and establishing the calculation formulas of it based on the bingham model, analyzing the influence factors of the loading torque and the relationship between the loading torque and each factors, providing the theory basis for the design of loading device.3.Designing the structure of MRF loading implementation structure, introducing the design criteria of MRF loading device, designing and calculating the main parts of loading implementation structure, which includes the sealing device, bearing, bond, bolt and rotating shaft.4.Introducing the build process of MRF loading system experiment bench; introducing the design and function of cooling system and electric control system in the loading system, introducing the execution system of MRF loading device in detail, which includes material, shape and three-dimensional map of main components.5.Designing the experiment arrangement and experiment program for verifying the reversibility of MRF loading device, introducing the content and purpose of every experiment condition, doing experiment to MRF loading device, analyzing the experiment date contrasted with experiment purpose, making a summary to the reversibility of MRF loading device.6.Making a summary to this paper.
