Because of the smooth transmission, high strength at the intersection of the shaft drive, spiral bevel gear is widely used in machine tools, aircraft engines, construction machinery and other industrial products. With the development of machine building industry and increasingly fierce competition in the international market, it has been increasingly demanding for the precision of spiral bevel gears-an important foundation for the mechanical drive components. Therefore, it is very important to develop a spiral bevel gear measuring system with own intellectual property right.This paper mainly studies the following:1) Completed a complex surface measurement method using theoretical equidistant surface of tooth surface as the error for surface evaluation eliminating the effect of the measuring head on the measurement results.2) Studied the reading method of theoretical tooth surface point dat file, the process of the establishment of equidistant surface and the conversion principle between workpiece coordinate system and measurement coordinate system.3) Developed spiral bevel gear measurement software, completed tooth surface measurement and error evaluation and achieved a spiral bevel gear tooth pitch and tooth surface deviation measurements.We have applied the spiral bevel gear measurement software developed to the CNC gear measurement center developed by Xian Gongda Precision Co Ltd for experimental verification. The experimental results show that the measurement system is able to have a precise control of the measuring head to conduct spiral bevel gear tooth pitch and tooth surface deviation measurements and can make an analysis of the measurement results to obtain tooth pitch error and tooth surface deviation.In addition,the spiral bevel gear measurement procedures developed by this study is measured in accordance with the design curved surface obtained without considering the coming of the design surfaces.so it has some universality and openness.
