Sheet metal parts has been reasonably used in almost all kinds of metal processing industry by its unique superiority.The demand of sheet metal parts will be bigger and bigger as China’s economic take-off. Therefore improve the utilization rate of sheet metal material not only improves the competitiveness of the enterprises, but also it is very meaningful to the economical society. There are a large number of skilled workers in the sheet metal enterprises engaged in sheet metal parts layout work, and the layout accuracy of traditional sheet metal parts layout methods is low, the efficiency is low and it need a lot of labor resources. With the rapid development of computer technology, automatic layout techniques have been applied in the traditional sheet metal industry, and it greatly reduces the labor intensity with higher layout precision and higher layout efficiency. Automatic layout features of sheet metal forming software is not much more used in the actually. So the studies of automatic layout system which is suitable for sheet metal parts’actual characteristics is very necessary.Firstly, this paper systematically studied the contour features of sheet metal parts, it summarizes the basic characteristics of sheet metal parts and the dimension of sheet metal parts in the process of stretching. Take the sheet metal parts turning into two-dimensional irregular parts after dealing with the stretching. And turn the problems of sheet metal parts layout optimization into the problems of two-dimensional irregular parts layout optimization. Then the algorithm of irregular parts layout optimization has been established:Calculate the convexification of two-dimensional graphics after the sheet metal parts has been stretched and calculate the smallest rectangle. Finally how to calculate sheet metal parts layout optimization is based on rectangular parts layout optimization methods. Through the study of this article we established the overall train of thought and solution on the sheet metal parts layout optimization, and at the same time it provides a solid foundation for deeper research.We know that we usually according the order of the stone, sand, flour to fill the cup, so conditional combination algorithm is proposed in this paper. We usually choose stones fill into the cup first, and then put the sand fill into the glass, when we take stone, sand, flour, three kinds of different objects, into the same individual volume cup. Then the individual small sand will fill the spaces between stones, and the individual small flour will fill the spaces between sands after the flour be filled into the cup. We will find that the original stones in the cup can’t back into the cup if we take the order of the flour, sand, stone to fill the cup. The same principle, when we fill up the same piece of plate with different size of the parts we should choose the big parts fill into the plate first. By imitating the process of loading cup we established conditional combination algorithm in this paper, which has improved the utilization rate of plate. And the experimental results show that conditional combination algorithm is effective in the process of layout especially in the case of mixed size of parts which is more obvious.Application software has been developed according to the conditional combination algorithm which is proposed above. This paper gives the application software interface and introduces the role of each button in details. When meet different layout problem we can chose different operating process to generate different layout algorithm. In this system, we puts forward the idea of the feedback of layout result. According the evaluation of the layout result to adjust the control parameters in the program automatically in order to get a better layout results Finally, the paper introduces the general framework of layout system,software process and given out part of the core program.
