Ecological environment problem is the most serious crisis that our society is facing. Especially in today’s cities, ecological problem is prominent, and the worsening of urban environmental pollution has become the biggest obstacle to sustainable urban development .Since the 20th century, urbanization is arguably the most important step of the history of human development. However, urbanization is a double-edged sword. While it brings huge economic benefits, promotes social progress, and allows people to enjoy human civilizatio-n, it also creates problems such as environmental pollution, social disorder etc.In order to scientifically and objectively study the relationship between urban enviro-nmental pollution and its impact factors, this paper used the structural equation models to analyse the problem of urban pollution. First, the factor analysis method is used to analyse the correlation between each index, determine the number of factors, and name for each factor; then the environmental data of major capital cities are used to perform a cluster analysis. The result is then used to rank the cities according to their environmental polluti-on level. The relationship between urban environmental pollution and urban development is also analysed according to the characteristics of cities; finally, a structural equation mod-el of the urban environmental pollution was built and the software Amos was afterwards used to identify models, verify parameters, and evaluate models. Through examining the structural equation model that was built using normalized data, the study found a close correlation between urban environmental pollution and economic and agricultu-re development. Economic and agricultural developments have worsened the urban environmental pollution, and urban pollution has in turn impeded the progress in economic and agriculture.
