With the development of urbanization in China, the problem of municipal solid waste has become increasingly serious. It has already had a serious impact on people’s life and social production. Municipal solid waste problem is related to environmental issues, resources and energy issues. Research on this issue will promote the residents’ participation in classification and recycling, and then solve the related environmental issues, resources issues and energy issues, which has great significance. In order to study the cognition, perception and influence factors of residents’ classification and recycling in Tianjin, ultimate questionnaire with 30 variables and 10 constructs, including 8 factors, 1 target structure and 1 basic information structure, is designed according to the relevant scholars’ research, social concern, interviews and pre research. The investigation is carried out base on the ultimate questionnaire, and a conceptual model based on the theory of planned behavior(TPB) is established. The test of the questionnaire quality shows that the data follows normal distribution, with high reliability and validity. Factor analysis of 125 random survey data were carried out with the aid of SPSS19.0 software and the theory of factor analysis. The results show that: social force and participation consciousness are most efficient factors, then the stimulate measures, link construction, social orientation and economic returns, and last knowledge of policies and measures. Based on factor analysis, structure equation modeling(SEM) is established and tested by AMOS20.0. Results show that the modified model and all its hypotheses can pass the test; residents’ participating consciousness in classification has a direct and very significant effect on residents’ garbage classification behavior, and social force also has a direct and significant effect; the factor which affects residents’ participating consciousness and social force to the most is related legal construction, and then the social orientation, stimulus policy measures and link construction. Further, these measures will have better results with information popularization. One-way ANOVA is done in order to explore whether there are some group differences. Results show that the residents’ sensitivity in different age groups or residential environment is slightly different. In order to be more thorough, comparison between college students and residents is done. Results show that people of different groups are different in some fields, and different policy-making consideration should be given to different groups.Based on the research of residents’ recycling behavior of solid waste and its influence factor, recommendations were given from laws and regulations, policy measures, infrastructure construction, management optimization, publicity guide, and so on.
