With the ceaseless development and consolidation of China’s manufacturing position in the world, a lot of machining and product manufacturing tasks in various regions of the country have been completed. At present, besides large state-owned enterprises, there have appeared many outsourcing small and micro enterprises, which are the main part of the solution and completion of relevant working procedures with lowest profit and most labor consumption in the production chain of medium and large-sized manufacturing enterprises.In these small and micro enterprises, a lot of manpower is devoted to completing drilling, tapping, deburring and other fitter working procedures. With the emergence of advanced manufacturing processes, the reduction of manufacturing profit has made the small and micro enterprises engaged in traditional manufacturing very difficult to survive; therefore, this paper is intended to design a low-cost manufacturing equipment(i.e.the economical drilling and tapping machine) for small and micro enterprises according to the present circumstances.This paper is to design and modify the manual drilling and tapping operating equipment and introduce a motion control system of drillers and tappers. This paper studies the motion control system based on SCM,ARM, PC and PLC, conducts a final design of the PLC-based motion control system and carries on a systematic research on and design of the motion control system of drillers and tappers.Above all, this paper makes reference to the research status of domestic and foreign relevant technologies at literature reading stage, has relevant technical descriptions about motion control in various industries, but doesn’t specifically bring forward a solution for the motion control of drilling and tapping machine.Then, through the study of existing technologies, this paper compares the solutions based on SCM,ARM,PC technologies and describes the design process of the system by comparing the stability, development cost and development difficulty. Illuminate the lectotype of servo motor, design the parameters of the control system based on the preliminary imagination and calculation of the controlled object, and select the servo system and servo motor.Finally, through the determination of hardware system, design the electrical control system of motion control system; the design method under which PLC is the core the control system simplifies the wiring of common auxiliary control circuit, realizing the modularization of the control system.After the completion of the above-mentioned work, design the PLC-based motion control system software and corresponding man-machine interface to operate the controlled objects in a graphical manner and fulfill the requirement of motion control system. Through the aforesaid research processes, design the motion function module and operation graphics module of the drilling and tapping machine and form a complete PLC-based motion control system in combination with control software.
