Rolling oily sludge is a by-product of steel production that is generated in the rolling processes. It is a mixture of metal particles, water, lubricants, and other substances. With the development of the steel industry of China, an increasing quantity of waste rolling oil is produced each year. Because it pollutes water and spoil and causes air pollution if burnt, waste rolling oil has become a great environmental concern. Making good use of the rolling oily sludge is not only beneficial to our environmental protection, but also let oil resources repeated utilization. For the two parts, different approaches were adopted respectively.Rolling oily sludge is divided into two parts:top waste oil and bottom sludge. First, for top waste oil, flocculation was the mainly method for regeneration, and other methods is supplement. The CPAM was selected to deal wthe oil. By orthogonal experimental, the best regeneration conditions were obtained as follows:waste rolling oil-CPAM solution mass ratios=5 g/g, refining time=30 min, refining temperature=25 ℃, stirring speed= 700 r/min; waste rolling oil-20% NaOH solution ratios=5 ml/g. Through flocculation method, the properties of the oil were clearly improved. After that, vacuum distillation, vacuum and adsorption refining was adopted for regeneration. Finally, an economic and technical comparison was carried out amoung filter+ flocculation+ distillation, filter+ flocculation+ rectification and filter+ flocculation+ clay refining. For bottom sludge, we present a method called alkali liquor-ultrasound to deal with it,and investigate the influence of test conditions which are the concentration of alkali liquor, the alkali liquor and bottom sludge rate and ultrasound time on metal recovery rate. The best conditions was:the concentration of alkali liquor=5%, the alkali liquor and bottom sludge rate=6:1 and ultrasound time= 25min. Then this iron alloy powders was used as the precursor to prepare Fe2O3/graphene. As anode materials for lithium ion batteries, it showed a large reversible capacity of 560 mA h/g after 100 cycles at a small charge-discharge rate current of 100 mA/g as well as good rate capability of 508 and 380 mA h/g at ultrahigh current densities of 2000 and 5000 mA/g.
