With the rapid development of transportation and improvement of people’s living standard, automobile has become a very important traffic tool. As the only part of automobile contacting with the ground, tire not only transfers force between the automobile and the road surface, but also directly affects the performances of safety, comfort and stability. Therefore, the tire contacting features can reflect the mechanical properties between the road and tire, and have significant influence on tire wear and rolling resistance properties. This paper investigated the influence of various parameters on tire wear utilizing the tire one-dimensional ring model and brush model.Firstly, experiments for geometric and physical parameters of tire are conducted. Radial, longitudinal and lateral stiffness of tire were tested by stiffness test equipment, and fitted using the least square method. The results are used in the tire ring model, brush model for wear analysis.Secondly, based on the ring model, tire one-dimensional contact model was developed, analyzing the effect of tire parameters on contact pressure distribution. Unsymmetrical factor is firstly introduced for representing the unsymmetry of contact pressure during tire rolling process. The influence of tire parameters on contact pressure unsymmetrical factor are explored quantificationally. The main factors affecting the unsymmetrical contact pressure distribution were clarified. Finally, the tire wear model was built combined with the ring model and brush model, analyzing the effect of tire parameters on tire wear. Tire contact features was described as contact length, rolling resistance and contact pressure unsymmetrical factor, analyzing the effect of various tire parameters on tire wear.In this paper, the contact features was established and the influence of tire contact features on tire wear was investigated. The results will provide a methodology and theoretical guidelines for controlling tire wear.
