Metal sawing tools usually include circular sawing blade, band saw, and wire saw. Because of small saw bite, high efficiency, no heat-affected zone, and other advantages, circular saw blade becomes one of the important tools to cut off pipe, bar and profile. Stainless steel belongs to typical difficult-to-machine materials, and many difficulties were brought to sawing processing by difficult-to-machine characteristics. So theoretical analysis, sawing test and finite element simulation are used to reduce the blade wear and improve the quality of section.According to the theoretical knowledge in metal cutting principle, the sawing laws of circular saw blade are researched. They include sawing dosage, sawing motion, sawing force, sawing temperature, sawing power and other aspects. And they can provide the theoretical basis for next sawing test and finite element simulation.304 austenitic stainless steel sawing tests are carried out on GKT624 carbide pendulum circular sawing machine. The tests include two parts. The first part is sawing bar that setting different sawing dosages and using carbide circular saw blade and metal ceramic circular saw blade. According to the first test, the influence of sawing force, sawing power and saw blade failure using different dosage and tool materials can be get. The second test is using orthogonal test to find out the influence of various parameters for the test index and optimize them. The test shows the best parameters are hook angle 15 °, back angle 9 °, negative chamfer width 0.2 mm and negative chamfer angle-15°.Finite element simulation is used to simulate the sawing process when numbers of working teeth are maximum. Several dates which are difficult to directly measure in the text can be get, including stress, strain, temperature and other parameters. And the date of maximum sawing force is compared with the value which is get by the sawing test. It shows that the numerical error is lower than 9%, which proves the simulation model is accurate. And it can reflect the actual situation of sawing 304 austenitic stainless steel.
