Sustainable development has become the consensus of the whole humankind with the energy, resource and environment problem becoming the key restrictions of the society progress. Machinery manufacturing industry, who acts as an important energy and resource consumer, is enduring more and more heavier burden which comes from the constant costs increasing and regulation advancing. Machine tool is not only the mother machine of mechanical products, but also is an important mechanical product itself, which consumes a large amount energy and resource and shows great energy saving potential. It would be the first step to optimize the machine tool design and to let it run in an energy saving mode that test and analysis the energy consumption character of machine tool. Usually a standard test work-piece is used to achieve the above goal because of the huge complexity of the machine tool energy consumption. However, there is still neither commonly accepted standard work-piece to use nor standardized test procedure to refer at present, so the conformity of the test cannot be ensured. To solve the above problem, the thesis built the machine tool energy consumption model first, and then studied the energy consumption behavior of the machine tool through experiments, and put forward two methods for testing and analyzing the machine tool energy consumption behavior based on the standard work-piece. The details are as follows:Firstly, the boundary of machine tools was confirmed referring ISO 14955-1. We also defined 5 basic machine movements, put forward 4 assumptions, obtained the energy consumption framework model which based on the machine tool state transform. And the model divides the machine tool energy consumption as constant part and variable part. Theoretical model were established item by item of the variable part.Then, taken TK6513 boring and milling machine as the example, the experiment system was set up, which includes machine power measurement system and machine tool state information acquisition system. Experiments were designed and carried out to test the constant machine tool power, and to confirm and to simplify the theoretical energy consumption model. The coefficients in the theoretical model were analyzed and fitted.Finally, we analyzed and introduced the machine tools energy consumption test requirement of three kinds of people, who are relate to machine tools. The principles of the standard machine tool energy consumption test work-piece design were discussed on the foundation of the requirements analysis. Set up two methods based on the entity work-piece and virtual work-piece to test and to analyze the machine tools energy consumption property, and then the two methods were verified by machining experiments.
