With the fierce competition among the manufacturing enterprises, how to quickly respond to market demand and improve the competitiveness of enterprises is the main pursuit goal of the enterprise. Knowledge sharing and reuse can help the enterprise to march product innovation, improve product quality, accelerate product launch speed, and it in the product life cycle management is more and more important.Based on the analysis of the current intense market competition environment, enterprise how fast the product to the market and obtain under the premise of strong competitiveness. With tool knowledge as the research object, the sources and categories of knowledge of cutting tools, the product knowledge acquisition and application under cloud environment, the ontology modeling and knowledge ontology construction are studied, according to the related theory of knowledge requirements and ontology modeling under cloud environment, tool ontology modeling and application are researched, the specific contents are as follows: In the summary of knowledge acquisition, given a cloud environment product knowledge acquisition framework, introduce the related theory of the ontology, according to the classification method of tool products under the cloud environment, Classified the knowledge of the tool by means of tool category structure, the perception and obtain of tool knowledge under cloud environment is described. Using the Stanford University Protégé4.3 and OWL ontology modeling language for ontology building of the tool of knowledge, and inference the constructed Ontology model by the inference engine embedded in Protégé, verification the model’s correctness and consistency, stored the model as OWL files. Finally, by building a prototype system, through the use of Jena analysis of the OWL file, stored the access data in a relational database then calling for the prototype system, in order to provide intellectual support and decision-making process for the PLM of tool.
