Silk cloth was recognized to have striking curable effect on skinscratchness of human body and showed excellent comfortable andhealthy function based on the quite lots of survey and research at chinaand abroad, but studies on the mechanism of above function waslimited. In order to clarify internal cause of comfortable and healthyfunction of silk cloth, difference in structure, micro-climate of cloth andanti-bacterial property between silk and other fabrics was compared inthis paper.More smooth surface and significant porosity in silk filament thanin others were observed with electron micro-scope. Under differentcombinations of relative humidity and temperature, silk fabric had moremoisture absorption per weight and higher moisture regain than othersand showed superior absorption and desorption property, with whichcomfortable micro-climate of cloth to human body was provided. Therefore, silk cloth showed comfortable and healthy function. The anti-bacterial properties between sericin, silk and other fabricswithout treatment were compared. Silk showed better anti-bacterialproperty than other natural fabrics, cotton and flax, and synthetic fiberssuch as delon and nylon. The anti-bacterial rate of silk, for Escherichiacoll; is 98,3%, fOr Bucillus subtilis, is 98.5%, fOrYeast, is 99.4%. Thea11ti-bacterial rate of sericin, for Eschericlia coli, is 90.2%, fOr BlIcilllISsubtilis, is 92.2%. The number of bacteria in silk fabric is 95, much lessthan in other fabrics that cotton is l32, flax 789, delon 348 and 11ylon799. Through microbiological experiments, healthy function of silkcloth was approved that amino-acid of silk protein prevented microbegrowing and reproducing on human body...
