At present, Super absorbent resin (SAR) made from acrylic acid (AM) is produced and used a lot. But SAR made from starch/acrylamide (AA)/(AM), CMC/AM/AA and CMC/AM/AA is little studied and used in modern society. In order to develop this new and cheap SAR, some research and discussion are as follows:The condition of the graft copolymerization temperature, the concentration of initiator, the concentration of cross-linking agent, neutralization degree of AA, the concentration of AA and the amount of starch, CMC or HEC based on the experiment is optimized according to the absorbent multiple.Throughout identifying three SAR with infrared spectra (IR), characteristic peak in the purified SAR advent, as indicate that AA and AM have grafted the chain of starch, CMC or HEC. Graft effect of three SAR is measured quantitatively with the method of bromine (Br). (NH4)2Ce(NO3)6 as initiator, the CMC graft copolymerization has high graft effect. The graft copolymerization mechanism of Starch, CMC or HEC is free radical mechanism that contains chain initiation, chain growth and chain ending (oxidization), as has important instruction meanings in large scale product. The evaluations of some influential factors such as swollen multiple, ability of absorbent water, temperature, brine, velocity of absorbent water, recovery ability, stability and anti-salt ability are conducted, and some important conclusions are drawn.SAR's absorbent mechanism is studied, and an improved thermodynamic formula and a molecule structure model which can interpret the state of absorbent water of starch, CMC and HEC graft copolymerization are proposed.Throughout those study, three of graft copolymerizations have good prospect in many realm.
