Soybean Protein Fiber(SPF) is a kind of regenerated vegetable protein fiber. SPF is developed by Mr Li Guanqi, an expert in Puyang Huakang Biology and Chemistry Intergrated Company in China. SPF is the only new textile material developed by China and get the success of industrialization test. The main material of producing SPF is soybean dregs in which oil has been extracted. By soaking, separating, globular protein is purified from soybean dregs. Under proper condition, SPF is made by changing protein space structure and copolymerizing and grafting with hydroxyl and nitrile polymers by wet spinning. Since SPF is produced in two years, many kinds of SPF products are exploited such as pure SPF fabric and blending or interweaving fabric with cotton, wool, flax, silk, cashmere and other chemical fiber.In order to promote SPF's development, this paper discusses SPF's properties systematically. According to fiber's feature, it can be spinned on different systems such as ring spinning and vortex spinning. During the course of products exploitation, making fully use of features of fiber and yarn, we exploited shorty raising shawl and wraps and filled in a gap in the field of product developing.Because of SPF's slick and soft surface, fine filament, bad cohesion among fibers during spinning, easy-wrapping element, when processing SPF ring yam on semi-worsted system and vortex yarn on cotton system, SPF must be pretreated and we must pay attention to atmospheric control. Ring yarn possesses high tensile strength which is fit for exploiting underwear and superior fabric. Vortex yarn has bulk yarn structure, good pilling resistance, frictional resistance and elasticity, which is fit for SPF knitting or weaving raising fabric. In addition,we developed SPF blending yarn by joining little antistatic fiber which is suited to develop SPF antistatic fabric.Through designing SPF shawl and wraps, we weaved SPF fabric and testedproducts' properties. Testing result proved SPF 's performance advantages such as its slick and soft surface, natural luster like silk, hygroscopicity and moisture liberation like cotton, heat retention like wool etc. SPF products can give full play to its performance merits. It's product development has feasibility. We tested dyeing property of SPF fabric and optimized dyeing process. SPF is an easy-dyeing fibre, its fabric has good dyeing property.SPF is a kind of new fiber having superior performance. SPF products possess good wearing characteristics, which have low cost and widespread application field. So SPF has strong market latent capacity. We have a lot of work to do in order to make SPF become a kind of mature fiber. We will strive for breaking through a series of crucial technology and exploit rich and colorful SPF products. We will make SPF's producing and application in an international leading position.
