On the base of studying the technologe of assembly modeling around the abroad, in thesis an assembly model is created depending on the software of UG and Visual C ++. The main work is stated as follow:(1) After researching the technology of modeling and the method of Top-down design, the thesis designs a feature-based modeling with Top-down design.(2) By designing the module of an assembly, the system will finish the creation of assembly and parts, and extract of assembly information. On the same time, the system will achieve the storage and management of assembly information depending on the technology of database.(3) Taking the assembly of engine as example, the thesis brings forward the hiberarchy and relation model, and the data structure of mixed model is organized. In the model Assembly feature is used to describe the constraint relations between assembly and parts.(4) The verification of assembly modeling system by taking example for piston and connecting rod indicates the feasibility and validity of the system.
