Assembly is products' important performance, and gets up the significant influence to the installation, maintenance, life, and dependability of products. But traditional design modes lack to the estimate ability of products' assembly performance. To appraise products' assembly performance on the design phase, it is an effectual means to the virtual assembly simulation.On the base of the current situation of virtual assembly at home and abroad, this paper studies the technology of virtual assembly simulation based on assembly feature, including parts' assembly feature, assembly constraint semanteme, assembly project semanteme and featured assembling model. It proposes and realizes a parts' rapid assembling approach based on assembly feature and assembly semanteme. While establishing the virtual hand model, it solves the technology of virtual hands picking, such as collision, limit to pierce through, and the picking rules etc. And the paper analyzes and designs the database of the virtual assembly simulation system. Regarding CATIA as the support platform, it realizes the main function of the prototype system. And with the controlling valve's assembling simulation, it verifies the advantages of the assembling thought the paper puts forward, such as exactness, convenience etc.
