The virtual NC technology, which was put forward in 1990's, is a new research field with the development of Virtual Manufacturing (VM), it's one of the key technologies of VM. The virtual NC technology has enormous economic benefits and widest application outlook, so it's gradually becoming a research focus in the world.The main research contents of the thesis is about simulation of functions included in virtual NC module and realization method of collide detection in virtual NC system. The research is in accordance with "real-time simulation" technique put forward in this paper, and based on the work that three-dimensional entity model and kinematics model had been founded with OpenGL interface and VC++.The simulation of functions included in virtual NC module (NC function simulation) refers to coordinate establishment, linear interpolation, spindle-speed adjustment, feed-rate adjustment, parameter-display and other control functions in manipulation board. NC function simulation is an improvement process from simple movement to complicated movement specified by virtual NC module.In the part of collide detection, the paper brings forward Octonary Tree Single Ball Compounding Model based on gridding surface traverse of regular entity. At the same time, the paper also introduces the realization methods through the example of collide detection between tool and work piece. Octonary Tree Single Ball Compounding Model was applied to virtual NC system that realized fast collide detection and fulfills real-time property.
