With the support of key technology R&D programming in Gansu province, the theory of virtual development to innovative products is studied, in which the innovative design of the precision shears machine severed as the research object. The platform of virtual design to precision shears machine is developed.The particularities of precision shears machine that include the large loading, force closed structure, the complicated state of stress for important part, and dynamic floating sending mechanism are discussed. The working theory of the shearing machines summarized. The structural characteristics of the machine are analyzed. The process and principle of the machine are discussed and the processes of main parts are simulated.According to the concepts and characteristics of precision shearing technology, several engineering restrictions of precision shearing, such as radial clamped shearing, axial pressed shearing, heated shearing in brittleness temperature and high speed shearing are defined. We consider that the fields of application of the radial clamped shearing is most wide. Therefore, the radial clamped shearing was studied mainly in this paper.Taking the precision shearing machine as the object, the environment and new technology of product virtual development is studied. Several important technologies, such as virtual reality technology, modeling technology, environment of virtual assembly, process and platform of virtual development are discussed. The virtual development of precision shears machine, that includes the technology of digital solid modeling and the virtual prototype simulation (includes dynamics and kinematics simulation) are achieved, which rely on some crucial technologies such as parametric modeling technology, virtual assembly technology, simulation technology etc. The popular international software for CAD/CAE/PDM, 3D virtual modeling and simulation environment of Pro/ENGINEER and ADAMS were used in the study.The modeling technology based on parametric feature and virtual assembly technology of the precision shears machine is put forward. The modeling method of the parts in Pro/E is studied. The developing module of parts is built by means of the single database and full connectivity of Pro/E. The mechanism of virtual assembly of mechanism is discussed, the primary assembly is realized through setting assembly constraints on part models. The concrete assembly process of sending mechanism and the whole shearing machine is finished. Moreover, the optimization of floating shelf aiming at eliminating the interference between parts is studied as a highlight of this paper.Put the works process simulation for the precision shears machine in practice. Discusses key technologies of dynamic simulation and analysis such as virtual prototype machine technology, implements some transforms that involved from solid models to simulation models of the shearing machine, 3D models of assembly of the shearing machine amongthemselves, carries out the correlative dynamic simulation for 3D models of clamp assembly and of the shearing machine, and analyzes the results of simulation, and thereby lays the groundwork for optimizing of the shearing machine.
