The spinning machine is a key kind of equipment in chemical fiber silk manufacturing. As the science and technology progresses, spinning's production equipments tend to be large, automated and integration. However, the realization of the large equipments'on-line failure prediction and fault diagnosis have play an important role in serving the equipments for their stable, long-time and safe running.Chemical fiber enterprises are of density in production units because of owning bulk spinning machines. Guaranting of production and increasing of profit,to a large extent, depends on good running of equipments. As the background of joint project between UESTC and MianYang Economic & Technological Development Area, the research aims at construction of a distributed computer monitoring system for spinning-machine's spindles in a workshop, which realizes real-time data collecting and high-speed transmission to carry out real-time monitor and control of spindle units.To solve a problem of low data transmissibility which is provoked by bulk data and nodal points, the paper focus on approach by means of hardware and software.In this paper, a distributed monitoring system with the features of discrete data collection and centralized data processing is proposed and developed. IPC works as an upper deck computer and many single chip processors serve as bottom controllers which collect spindle unit data and realize real-time monitor. Comparison of fashionable computer buses, the system has chosen PCI bus as data communication bus in order to settle the problem of low data transmissibility.In addition, as we known, more and more process data have been created in monitoring process. In this system, a method of process data compression on the basis of least-squares fit has been developed. Data compression can cut out redundancy information, and reduce storage and transmission capacity of data.The design can meet with real-time requirement of the monitoring system. It is also important of improving the efficiency of both production and equipment maintenance.
