N,N,N',N'-tetamethylenediamine and bis (2-chloroethyl)ether as raw material was used to synthesis a new kind of water-soluble quaternary ammonium polymer: poly (oxyethylene (dimethyliminio)ethylene(dimethyliminio)ethylenedichloride). The rate of conversion was high. And the repeatability of the product was very easy. The liquid waste disposal of the product was very easy. So this quaternary ammonium salt has a very good industry application.The relationship between the dosage N,N,N',N'-tetamethylenediamine and the dosage of bis (2-chloroethyl) ether, reaction temperature, reaction time and the rate of conversion were studied by single factor and perpendicular experiment. The condition of obtaining the maximal rat of conversion was found. The N,N,N',N'-tetamethylenediamine and bis(2-chloroethyl) reaction proportion of mol was 1.05:1.The temperature was 70℃. The reaction time was 6h.Analytical method such as FT-IR, NMR was used to confirm the structures of polymer. And the sample was investigated by TG to test the thermal stability. The intrinsic viscosity of the product synthesized in different condition were tested by Ubbelihde viscometer. And the quaternary polymers antibacterial activities were studied by plate count method. The product have a good antibacterial properties of kill heterotroph bacteria. The tests showed that at a concentration of 80 mg/L. The 4h's bactericidal rate was 99.4%.The relationship between the intrinsic viscosity and bactericidal rate were studied. The quaternary ammonium salt copolymer is a powerfully potential bactericide.
