For the time being, the export of Chinese herbal medicine of China only accounts for about 5% of the sales of the international market of herbal medicine, far behind that of Japan and Korea. In the 21st Century, the Chinese herbal medicine with traditional culture characters and unique advantages is faced with unprecedented challenges. In the meantime, with the social development, the disease spectrum of human being is changing silently, and the medical treatment mode is changing from the pure disease treatment to the combined mode of prevention, health-care, treatment and recovery– the"Entire Medical Science"is coming into shape. The survival environment is degrading, and the toxic bi-effects of chemical medicine are outstanding, which has led to the call for human being to come back to the nature and attention attached to traditional medicines. The international community has lifted the ban on herbal medicine to certain extent. All these have created sound opportunities for Chinese herbal medicine to enter the international medicine market as treatment medicine. In the current days when the concept of scientific development is emphasized, there are great potentials of international market for the Chinese herbal medicine with our own intellectual property rights. Therefore, it is of important realistic significance to explore the issue of internationalization for the herbal industry in China. This paper starts with the introduction to the status quo of internationalization of the herbal medicine in China in Chapter One, with analysis on the industrial development trend of herbal medicine in China; and analyses the strategic significance of internationalization of herbal medicine in Chapter Two. In the third chapter, it adopts the SWOT Analysis and Market Segments theory to conduct comprehensive analysis of the international marketing environment of the herbal medicine. Chapter Four is the typical case analysis of herbal medicine industry. Chapter Five is the focus of this paper, which by taking into account of the state of the typical state-owned leading enterprises and small-sized private enterprises of herbal medicine, and from the perspective of enterprises, explores the strategies of internationalization and puts forth policy recommendations.By analyzing the market sales environment of herbal medicine of China and based on the summary of other scholars'understandings, this paper analyzes the issue of internationalization of China's herbal medicine, with certain value of reference. However, since this paper puts forth the strategic recommendations based on the analysis of typical enterprises, it is unavoidable that there are lots of limitations in it.
