Large tonnage underground mining dump trucks were used as the main equipment of transport in underground trackless mining, and various roadway projects. However, the automation level of the mining trucks designed in China was still very low, especially on their condition monitor and fault diagnosis ability. The mining trucks designed in China nearly depended on technician's experiences to diagnose faults. Therefore, the question of how to establish an effective monitoring system for trucks monitoring and diagnosis had important significance. Combined with a momentous project, this dissertation did the research on design and implement of the mining truck control system, which was based on embedded system.The paper was beginning with the fault diagnosis expert system. Through the analysis of the existing methods used in mining truck diagnostic, it proposed a method, adding type-grouping verification process into the expert system. Through the simulation tests on engine parameters, the pilot feasibility of this method was proofed.Then the paper focused on how to achieve this method. It contrasted the three existing embedded system solutions: Embedded controller, Embedded computer systems directly control, Embedded computer systems combined with the Programmable Logic Controller, and three commonly used embedded operating systems: Embedded Linux, Windows CE, Windows XP Embedded. The ultimate choice was the embedded computer systems and programmable controller acquisition fieldbus network combining together for the monitoring and control system hardware structure. And by Windows XP Embedded for operating system, embedded configuration software for the human interface, fault diagnosis expert system application for background diagnosis, system software architecture was build up, to meet the design requirements.Later that, according to the technical requirements and characteristics of the mining truck object, the detail design was carried out. From the hardware system layout of the overall structure, to the subsystem parameters collection, we described one by one. It also includes the ultrasound obstacles monitoring system design. Including the basic testing, condition monitoring and fault diagnosis, three aspects of the expert system software structure and processes. In that, we focused on the realization of the expert system.Through control system design practice, the practice feasibility of the fault diagnosis expert system structure was proofed further. Meanwhile, embedded system application provided a reference to the mining trucks automation.
