The man-machine performance has become an important issue the vehicleengineers must consider. At present in our country cabins are usually designedaccording to relative standards of Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), whichdon’t fully adapt to the body characteristics of Chinese drivers. And ergonomicsachievements focused on cars and passenger cars, while researches for heavy truckswere almost blank, which leads to mining dump truck cab’s design can’t fully satisfydriver’s comfort requirements. But mining dump drivers need operate the machine withduplication movements for long time in horrible work environments, these directlylead to the driver’s fatigue, so dump truck requires higher man-machine performancethan regular vehicles. In order to improve man-machine performance of the dump truck, we need todevelop some key parameters of cab design in accordance with human characteristicsand truck’s structural features. In this paper we try to enhance the posture comfort, operation easiness and sight expands of mining dump trucks by comprehensiveoptimization in cabin arrangement, at last we check the reliability of the aboveoptimization schemes with man-machine simulation software RAMSIS. The primarycoverage of this essay constitutes by below four parts.First, we optimize H point on the basis of the traditional SAE method to meetmining dump trucks features and Chinese drivers’ body characteristics, then weestablish Mathematics Models respectively of SGRP point and the midpoint W ofsteering wheel relative to heel points (AHP point), which provides the theoretical basisfor layouts of the steering wheel, seats and so on.Secondly, it introduces the conception of driver Eyellips, and expounds themethod to fix the shape of truck driver eyellips and the position of eyellips center, which determines drivers’ sight, known the eyellips we can further design front vision, instrument panel vision and the rearview mirror vision.Thirdly, Cab man-machine performance only considers the factors of joint angleat present, but joint torque during operation is not negligible, in this paper we optimizecab layout based on both joint angle and joint torque, we take the joystick and footpedal for example, According to Kane equation and NASA strength model, jointtorques during pushing and pulling the joystick and footpedal are acquired through establishing the dynamics models for driver’s upper limb and lower limb, at last itobtains comfort curves and optimal operating postures to conduct the layout of joystickand foot pedal in mining dump truck.Fourthly, use the man-machine simulation software RAMSIS to check out the cablayout, in the RAMSIS, which includes many functions such as automatic posecomputation, fatigue analysis and vision analysis. So just in the early stage we cancarry out a lot of human engineering analysis with a small amount of CAD data, it cancomprehensively verify the comfort, vision and accessibility performances of theabove design schemes.
