| The red mud washing and discharge circuit is an important part inalumina-production plant by the sintering process and the slurry pumps arethe key equipment to discharge the wasted red mud. The paper describes theflow sheet of the red mud washing and discharge, and the main failure type ofthe pump wearing part—cylinder. Through analyzing the failure of thecylinder, the material requirements of the pump cylinder are found.After analyzing material characters of friction and abrasion, the materialformula available for the study subject—engineering ceramic cylinder hasbeen proposed. On the base of it, the cylinder are made. The cylinder of theslurry pump with an excellent performance are obtained through the practicalrunning test. The paper studies the following contents.a.Studying on friction and wear mechanism of the pump cylinder- plugsystem and the engineering ceramic, and effect of ceramic elements andsurface microscopic shape on the friction and wear characters, as well as thefriction and wear characters of 35CrMo material after quench, it concludesthat the engineering ceramic material is better than the former material.b.Introducing features of Al2O3 and ZrO2 ceramic.Al2O3 ceramic hasmany advantages such as high hardness and abrasion resistance, hightemperature resistance and corrosion resistance, but its rupture ductile is poor.The rupture ductile and bending strength of Al2O3 ceramic toughened byZrO2 is increased,therefore it gets a preferable dynamics performance usingZrO2 transformation.c.Verifying calculation of design and strength for the engineeringceramic cylinder structure. Verifying the former cylinder strength by elasticdynamics theory, the stress and strength of the ceramic cylinder is verified. Asa result, a reasonable structure of the cylinder is designed.d.Describing briefly the main manufacture procedures of the engineering ceramic cylinder, it focuses on describing ultrasonic honing machine processof the cylinder inner surface and analytical study of its surface quality.The practical running test of the ceramic cylinder proves that it is correctto analyze friction and wear mechanism of the pump cylinder-plug system,material selection, structure design and manufacture process of the cylinder.The design idea instead of metal material by ceramic material is put forward.A new way to prolong lifetime of the slurry pump cylinder-plug system istapped. The sufficient and essential conditions are created to improve theapplication performance of the slurry pump. The technology application topetrol industry has a good prospect. |
