Non-toluene acrylic pressure-sensitive adhesive was synthesized by radical solution polymerization from acrylic derivatives. The effects of the solvent, initiator, the ratio of monomer, modified monomer and reaction time on the properties of the pressure-sensitive adhesive were studied. The results showed that the system appeared high viscosity and fast reaction rate in solvent ethyl acetate, the best polymerization was achieved when benzoyl peroxide used as initiator, the amount of initiator was 0.5% of the total mass of the monomer, the reaction temperature was at 76℃, the mass ratio of butyl acrylate and 2-acrylic ester was 4:1, the amount of acrylic monomers was 3.2% of the total mass of the monomer.Several closed acid catalysts were synthesized by 4-methylbenzenesulfonic acid and different amines. The solubility of catalysts in different solvents were investigated, the catalysts were characterized by FT-IR and their stability were analyzed by TG.The research focused on the cross-linking of acrylic pressure-sensitive adhesive, properties of acrylic pressure-sensitive adhesive was improved by adding different kinds of cross-linker, metal salts and melamine formaldehyde resin, and the cross-linking mechanism were analyzed by IR and DTA. The results showed that the best dosage was 1.5% of the total mass of monomers using magnesium acetate as cross-linker, cross-linking temperature was 90℃, cross-linking for 2 min. Faster reaction was achieved only at high temperature using melamine formaldehyde resin as cross-linker, but the addition of catalyst lowed cross-linker temperature, and accelerated the reaction rate. The best dosage was 2% of the total mass of the monomers using closed acid as catalyst, cross-linking temperature was at 90℃, cross-linking for 2 min.The effect of the amount of antioxidant 2246 on the properties of pressure-sensitive adhesives was studied. The results showed that the best antioxidant effect was gained when the amount of antioxidant 2246 was 1 % of the total mass of the monomers. Compared the antioxidant effect of single anti-antioxidant 2246 with the complex system of anti-antioxidant 2246 and auxiliary anti-antioxidant 168, the results showed that the complex system have better effects than single main antioxidant system.
