With the development of industry technology, it has been the main trend of belt conveyors to use the long distance, large capacity one to transport materials. The long distance and large capacity belt conveyor has enhanced the productive ability largely, but it also brings many technical problems. The belt conveyor's dynamic characteristics become more and more prominent, and they have been the core problems of the belt conveyor research.According to the static preliminary designation of the belt conveyor, the belt conveyor's basic parameters are determined. The belt's viscous-elastic characteristics have been analyzed and studied, and the dynamics model of belt is constructed. The belt conveyor's components and different boundary conditions which influencing the belt conveyor's characteristics have been studied, and the belt conveyor's system dynamics model is constructed with the finite element method. In view of the dynamics model's characteristics, the four steps Runge-Kutta method is adopted to solve it. Based on the models, the belt conveyor's program is compiled by the combination of VB and Matlab software. The simulation dynamic analysis is carried on the belt conveyor's operating characteristics during the period of starting using the program. The influences which produced separately by starting-up acceleration control curve, starting-up time and loads to the belt conveyor's dynamic characteristics are researched.Through the analysis of the influences which is produced by different starting-up acceleration control curves to belt's dynamic stress values, the parabola combination acceleration curve with crawling section is proposed to be the better one for the belt conveyor's dynamic characteristics. If the elastic vibration during accelerating is limited effectively, the starting time must be 5 times as long as the fundamental wave vibration period. The change regularities of belt dynamic stress under different starting loads are same.The designed starting-up acceleration control curve can reduce the belt's dynamic stress when starting effectively, enhance the working stability, thus solve many technical dynamic problems that produced by the worked belt conveyors with long distance and large capacity effectively. The research and the conclusions on dynamic characteristics of the belt conveyor with long distance and large capacity provide the thoughts and theory basis for the system's optimization, dynamic type designation and automatic controlling.
