In this paper, the coating of silane coupling agent KH570 and styrene on the surface of aluminum pigments had been investigated. The influencing factors such as reaction time, reaction temperature and the amount of KH570 were considered in the experiments. Then analyzed and characterized the coated aluminum pigments by the means of TG. EDX, SEM, TEM and grain size analysis. The result show that when reaction temperature is 40℃, reaction time is 2h, and the amount of silane coupling agent KH570 is 2%, the coated aluminum pigments prepared under this conditions have the minimum amount of hydrogen evolution, and its inhibition efficiency is 70.2%, glossiness is 72.5.Then, the aluminum pigment with coating of silane coupling agent is recoated by polystyrene. In the experiments, the influencing factors such as reaction time, reaction temperature, the amount of styrene monomer and initiator, the material-feed way were considered to affect the coating quality. The results show the best reaction conditions was that, the reaction temperature is 75℃, the amount of initiator AIBN was 0.2g, the amount of styrene monomer was 1.13%, reaction time was 3h, and adopting separate initiator feeding method. The hydrogen evolution of the coated aluminum pigments which prepared under these conditions was 22.3mL, the glossiness is 63.2, and the inhibition efficiency was 88.2%, improved 18% compared to the KH570 coated aluminum pigments.
