Automatic Train Operation (ATO) technology plays an important role in Train Control System in Urban Rail Transit, which can control the train traveling speed between two stations and control effect directly affects to performance indicators. The effect of different control algorithms applied in ATO is inequable. Therefore, whether now or future, it is necessary to research the control algorithms of ATO, in order to make the train furthest run in the best performance. Most traditional research on ATO algorithms is based on simulink off the line, which is the pure software simulation not in the real-time environment resulting no realization of data real-time generation, exchange and processing. Meanwhile, the separation of the simulation and real train and vehicle equipment leads to less helpful to ATO products development. Research on ATO algorithms needs a realer simulation environment. By the application of control algorithms to semi-physical real-time simulation system, simulation data obtained is real-time generation and interaction, and it is also more actual and visualized to observe the control results through the connection of real physical interface and the train or other vehicle device, which is more helpful to ATO products development.Based on systems analysis and summary of existing research production, the paper has been focus on the application of dSPACE in ATO and building of ATO simulation system based on dSPACE. ATO simulation and test platform is put up to provide semi-physical real-time simulation environment. ATO controller model is designed based on train dynamic model and then applied to dSPACE.The results show that simulation in dSPACE environment can make up for the shortage of simulink, which is more actual and comprehensive for the verification of control algorithms and more helpful to the development of controller.
