Compared with computer simulation, the analysis of HEV by a semi-physical simulation & test platform is more accurate. And the semi-physical simulation & test platform is less expensive and more robust than experiments on real vehicles. Meanwhile, the circumstances provided by the platform are almost the same as the real vehicles could provide. All working regions of the components can be easily tested on the platform, and the optimization of efficiency, pollutant emission and drivability of the vehicles working under many states can also be investigated. So, the simulation platform is a necessary tool to research HEV.Firstly, the structures of series, parallel and series-parallel(S-P) HEVs are investigated in this thesis. Their layouts, characteristics and control strategies are analyzed in detail.Secondly, a hardware scheme of the semi-physical simulation & test platform is designed. All layouts of series, parallel and S-P HEVs can be realized on the table. The key modules of HEV are realized by real components, the battery and the gearbox are replaced by software which made the table more simplified.Then, the mechanism of regenerative braking of motor system is presented. The method for maximum regenerating power, the method for maximum regenerating efficiency and constant torque braking method are studied. The comparisons of three methods are provided by means of analytical deduction and simulation.At last, the scheme of the controlling software is given based on the hardware structure. The functions and realization of all sub-modules are analyzed at length.The simulation platform designed in this thesis could be used to test and demarcate single components, and can also be used to develop a whole vehicle. The controlling software has been divided into many sub-modules according to their function, and the GUI is friendly.
