For the problems and new changes in the process of the application of abrasive water jet technology, a abrasive water jet ammunition cutting device using the neural network technology which the parameters are easy to be regulated and optimized is designed on the basis of overview of the current application of abrasive water jet technology in ammunition destruction area. Based on the features of abrasive water jet processing and neural network modeling techniques, a cutting model for abrasive water jet based on artificial neural network which can forecast the jet pressure is established. The artificial neural network model of abrasive water jet is trained based on experimental data using MATLAB Tool Box. The trained artificial neural network model for abrasive water jet cutting is verified experimentally.The following work is carried out in this thesis.1. The research on the theories and techniques application of abrasive water jet. Overview of development of abrasive water jet technology over abroad and home. The system components, the work principles and the cutting principles of abrasive water jet are studied in detail.2. The design of abrasive water jet ammunition cutting device. In the needs of current ammunition destruction area, an abrasive water jet ammunition cutting system is designed and the research on the system components and work principles are carried out.3. Based on the theories of artificial neural network, the artificial neural network for abrasive water jet cutting was established.4. With the grenade of 130mm caliber as the materials of cutting sample, the research on the processing parameters of abrasive water jet which impact the cutting depth performance of abrasive water jet.5. The sample data is derived from experiment. The artificial neural network model for abrasive water jet cutting is then trained based on experimental data and make it able to forecast cutting pressure. Based on comparing with experimental data, the feasibility of artificial neural network model for abrasive water jet cutting is verified.The results show that the network is a reliable mode for abrasive water jet. It has good fitting ability, generalization ability and highly practical value.
