AS an important part of the modern train technology, train communication network technology developed with train's automation and it has been widely used in home and abroad. In line with international standards and train communication network equipment has an extremely broad application prospects, our country also has been committed to the train communication network equipment research and development, but some of the key equipment still immature, need to rely on foreign imports, The MVB controller (MVBC), a core processor or integrated circuit responsible for the information link level is a main top key technology that has not been grasped. A equipment-import solution can not fix the problem in the long run, for it cost a lot and put the development of our country's train communication technology in a passive position. Under this circumstance the author of this article conducted the research and design for MVBC.In this paper, Firstly, a deep research of the MVB's basic communication theory is presented, mainly carries on the analysis to the MVB's data link mechanism, which provided a profound foundation for the design of MVB.Secondly, the structure, characteristic, function and the application method of the main two kinds of highly developed MVBC products (designed by overseas company, one based on ASIC, and the other on FPGA) is analyzed deeply. After that, we come into our own implementation scheme based on FPGA realizing. But because the structure of MVBC chip is extremely complex, it needs a very professional hardware logical design knowledge and experience by using pure hardware logic design, and still need a lot of time. Therefore, this article put forward a new method of combining the software and hardware design to replace with pure hardware logic design, that is, using SOPC technology which have taken the advantages of FPGA and SOC to realize the MVBC. By constructing chip embedded processor system, complex hardware logic function is realized through software approach, thus not only reduce the difficulty of design, but also shorten the design time. In addition, this method can also provide hardware platform for the realization of MVB's network layer to the application layer, which makes the MVBC's implication very convenient. According to the different types of MVBC equipment, two MVBC general frameworks are presented.Thirdly, from both hardware and software aspect shows the detailed design scheme. In the hardware side, first custom encoding, decoding and redundancy control module, and then build and generate a system on chip based on NiosⅡin the SOPC Builder environment, in the end, compile the system. In the software side, write separate program for four types of MVB equipment according to the MVB data link principle.Finally, summarized the main work and innovative points of this paper, and discussed the potential follow-up work.
