The Course Plotter system is one of the important ancillary equipment of shipping navigation system.With the development of computer technology,the intelligent navigational plotted equipment needs to be further broadened functions, smaller,lower power consumption,reducing costs and improving reliability.As the development of chip design and verification technology as well as the inprovement of FPGA performance,the programable system on chip is gaining more and more application.Programmable system on chip has high integration, small size,low power consumption,a good realtime performance,And it's easy to modify and upgrade.So the research of an Course Plotter based on programmable system on chip has great significant theoretical significance and practical value.This paper introduces the development process of the course plotter and the programmable system on chip.Combined with the previous course plotter and the characteristics of the system on chip,this paper designs a new course plotter controller hardware platform based on programmable system on chip.First it briefly introduces the features and processes of the system on chip design.These design methods in study are the important development direction of electronic system design in the feature.The second it analyses the structure and function of the open source processor OR1200 and Wisbone bus.OR1200 is a powerful processor.And it's capable of the automation and intelligent of course plotter. Wisbone is a simple bus and conducive to small SOC design.The third,by integrating of the open source IP of the external devices such as Ethernet controller,VGA/LCD controller,PS2controller,a simple system is composed on a chip.GNU tool chain for software compiler and debug is set up for this system on chip,so a JTAG chain debugger.The minimum system is the foundation of the design and debugging.Finally some Wisbone compatible dedicated IP are designed,which include UART,SDRAM controller,NAND Flash controller and the movement controller.And these IP are verified and tested. The design of course plotter controller which based on programmable system on chip has improved the integration,enhanced reliability,reduced the size and costs.
