| Container Intermodal becomes more and more popular and is applied in large countries and important district with its incomparable strength in service and management. Under a new construction wave, rail network has an upgrade and connected main terminals with stations and exclusive lines. However container rail transportation in China is far behind development in trucking and barge. Sea-rail is more in under developed status and doesn't take proper market share.Shanghai terminal was one of the developed terminals in China and also one of the terminals for intermodal. Currently, phase I-VI takes all container shipping. However none of the terminal connected with container railways and not mentions operations. Based on the layout of phase N, this research carries out analysis on impact on layout and transportation efficiency using different railways to upgrade efficiency of the terminals.The research begins with development status in global container intermodal and local intermodal and existing issues in domestic transportation. Primary analysis is on trucking-barge transportation via introduction on phase N layout and transportation without rail. Later in the article I discuss the horizontal and vertical rail connection.First Qualitative analysis is conducted on impact on transportation trend for two different approaches. Later quantitative analysis is carried on influences on the traffic of terminal crossroad in the two different scenarios with concept of road service level.After comparison of analysis result, two connection ways will bring disturbance on the transportation after case analysis on typical terminal both international ones and domestic ones, especially on the function and layout of LuChao Terminal. In summary, rail terminal hub outside port terminal will be more efficient way of transea transportation. |
