With the development of electric power system and advancement of technology, the demands for synchronous generator excitation equipment are increasing. People do not settle for nothing more than the realization of basic functions. The advancement of digital technology make people have more trenchant need to Excitation equipment with strategic insight in dynamic quality , progressive and flexible. Going with the development process of new century product by Electrical Equipment Factoiy of HeBei University of Technology, this paper discusses the developing trends of excitation equipment based on the construction of hardware and software in China and world, and the application of modem technology and new ideas based on computer technology, digital technology, asynchronous interrupt technology and excitation regulation strategy. The creative work of this paper is to use the 32 bits industry controlling computer in excitation equipment and to settle the compatible problem between computer system source and industry real time application. Also disscussed in this paper are a series of common problems often occurred in domestic systems using computer technology. The ideas proposed in this paper have been successfully realized, and the first system adopting the solutions proposed in this paper have been put into operation in a 100MW synchronous generator in Qinghe Power plant, Liaoning province and the second for a 300MW synchronous generator in GOON Power Company in Anhui province. The good performance have proved the ideas and analysis in this paper and also gained the user抯 highest praises.
