Create ¡¤ Adapt To Changes

Based on plenty of achievements of domestic research on Richard Meier and first-hand foreign documents, the thesis has introduced Richard Meier, the famous American architect of the third generation, from various aspects, including his conception of architectural design, architectural philosophy, habitual archi- tectural vocabulary, etc, thoroughly and profoundly. Some typical architectural works, especially the Getty Center, which is called century piece of Meier, are introduced and evaluated from various aspects. Aiming at enriching domestic research and having carried out some new seeking in the very field, the thesis will provide much useful information with domestic colleagues in architecture to understand Richard Meier. Furthermore the thesis has pointed out that Modernism is the very road that Chinese architecture have to pass by. Therefore Richard Meier's architectural practice has provided domestic colleagues with very lively example and reference.
