Train wheel is the one of most important inter-changeable components in the vehicle, plays key role in safety of railway transportation., but in our country, the wheel is still measured using hands leading low efficiency. In developed countries such as US, Japan, advanced Research has been done and many Measurement Equipments has been developed, thus high efficiency and economics . With the development of the industrial control technology and information technology, Railway transport meets Great challenges.Based on problems in the wheel measuring equipment, this paper combined raster sensor, CCD sensor, vortex sensor, laser sensor, and advanced control and design technology, implement including the organization of controlmnet, mechanism and gas in a automatic wheel status measuring system. The equipment can not only measure the dimension of wheel, but also check out the complex wheel face analysis, such as scrape, diagnosis of fault.Following is the main works done in this paper :1. Using laser sensor, raster sensor etc high resolution sensors and A/D, D/A card , motor control Equipment, implement organization of controlmnet, mechanism, and sensors, perform equipment etc hardware design.2. Using digital image processing theory, figure out scrape, peel and depth of wheel face, establish wheel measurement system.3. Using Visual C++ 6 and Windows 98, empolder software to implement including human-machine interface,motion control and database design.4. From the Reliability and stability design of computer controlment system, design Reliability for the measuring system.
