On the base of the existed ground artillery gunnery commanding system, in order to realize the group and network of these systems, we need to extend the system again. The communication control unit(CCU) is a machine which can connect the group host computer with its subordinate command post computers and observe post computers, and which can scan the communicating channels, deal with the packet ,differentiate and ascertain the route etc.. This paper concretely exposits the design process, including bringing forward the project, designing the principle circuit, constituting communication protocol and writing software. This paper comprises two parts: the hardware design and the software design. In the process of designing hardware, the principal and subordinate structure is adopted: the principal CPU accomplishes the communication with the group host computer; the subordinate CPUs accomplish the communication with some command post computers and observe post computers; the principal and subordinate CPUs exchange data through parallel Bus to realize the communication between the group host computer and its subordinate computers. So the CCU must be intelligentized, and can fulfill the function of packet transition and route ascertainment. In order to improve the systemic stability and reduce the power consumption, the on-line programmable apparatus(CPLD) is adopted to connect principal CPU with subordinate CPUs. It not only reduces the miscellaneous degree of circuit, but also conveniently and neatly on-line amends the connection of principal and subordinate CPUs. For the sake of long-distance communication between the group host computer and its subordinate computers, we design the modulate and demodulate circuit by ourselves which is adapted with all kinds of environments and both wired and wireless communication. In fact, it can better satisfy our demand. In the part of software design, we firstly constitute communication protocols. In this paper, the simple protocols is defined. Secondly in order to make sure the link of hardware, it is necessary to write hardware drive program. If all these are met, physics layer is transparent to write software. The software includes message format disposal, serial and parallel interruption, channel scan and the error detection and correction etc.. This paper puts forward solutions which aim at several kernel technologies of this system project: (1) in order to complete the communication between, the parallel correspondence circuit suit for this system is built on the base of the SMC source.(2) the theory about data correspondence ,for example communication protocols data chain data exchange and error control, is used in this system.(3) the error control technology is discussed in the aspects of hardware and software: the odd and even correction of 51 SMC serial communication and a fast CRC suit for SMC. Anyway, this paper contains SCM technology, CPLD technology and computer communication, which composes a integrated system. This system has been used in actual combat tryout, and its stability and function completely satisfies our demand. Certainly it still has some shortages, which are only being found and corrected in the being time so as to go to maturity.
